Nat Nat - A Raw Muse

Nat Nat is a great model, artist, and Photographer. She used to co-run a drawing session in Park Slope at what once was Two Moon Cafe. Normally whenever a scheduled model would cancel or flake she would gladly step in place.

She is the Spider-Woman of models.

Bekah Fly

I first drew Bekah 2 years ago in my early drawing session days and my first session with here lead to one of my favorite solid pieces

She is also a regular at the monthly Draw-A-Mania which is held every 3rd Thursday at Otto's Shrunken Head.

Unfortunately Since earlier this year she has been battling Lyme Disease which a fund raiser as held for her and raised 104% the goal for her treatment. I am unaware of her current condition but wish her a speedy healthy recovery.

Tania S.

I had the honor of working with Tania last year, unfortunately it was the only time, she also happens to be a very gifted and talented grand pianist.

Nadine

Nadine has been an inspiring muse (actually she is more Goddess than Muse) that I've had the privilege an honor to work with for almost 2 years already.

Tea Eaton

Tea Eaton

Another Incredible model leading to Incredible sketches.  This was the first model I drew using my favorite pencils  STAEDTLER tradition ...

They are a rare form of Staedtler pencils (they put Staedtler's Lumigraph blue color pencils to shame)

1st Session
(this is a series of 5-10 min. poses)

Repeated Series of 20 min poses in Prismacolor Colored Pencils and Colorless Blenders

2nd Session

3rd Session
Tea as Medusa

Aubrey

What better way to kick off the blog with muse that started it for me and made my drawing sessions a constant Activity, none other than Aubrey.

Aubrey among many drawing session groups is an Art Model Icon.  And Below is the sketch that started it all it was a repeated pose in a series of 20 mins.  I had done some decent 5 and 10 min sketches throughout the night but once I saw this pose with the hair and skull as a prop it reminded me of a few series of paintings of St. Mary Magdalene that I just had to throw the halo behind her head.

I was fortunate enough to have her model many other times...

As well as a return to the place I first sketched her.... one year later.

Welcome to "Frank's Rough Life"

Hello Blogamaniacs and Welcome to Frank's Rough Life!

My Name is Frank I am an FIT Alumni, Graphic & Jewelry Designer, and most of all I love to draw FROM LIFE in my leisure time.

This is a blog dedicated to strictly my detailed drawings, sometimes paintings, and mostly rough pencil sketches from live models. (Rough Life....get it?!)

Be aware about 90% of the models sketches will be in the Nude so please enter with caution and an open mind.....Any inappropriate and immature comments will be deleted.

Some of the images were too extreme for Facebook, and My Model Mayhem account has exceeded the maximum upload limit so this blog is for me is an active sketch journal to share with my friends, classmates and the muses that made it possible.

Enjoy and Always keep your skills in Check!
